The East Canyon State Park project was a two-phase complete rebuild of the park.

Phase I included a new water system with a 160,000-gallon water tank, a new sewer system, and a new electrical system. The existing campground was rebuilt with a new asphalt road, concrete pads, shelters, full hook-ups, and two new four-unit restrooms with showers. The concession area was refurbished, and a new two-unit vault restroom was installed near the boat ramp. The aging boat ramp was also replaced. A new 2,800 SF ranger residence was constructed.

Phase II included a new entrance location and road into the park and a new fee station. The day-use area was demolished and new pads, shelters, a group pavilion, a lawn, an irrigation system, and two new six-unit restrooms were provided. A new group-use area with grills, a pavilion, and a four-unit restroom with showers and a two-unit vault was provided. Four yurts for year-round use were also included.
