OVERVIEW

The renovation of Building 73 at the University of Utah updated the former law building into a space for the theater and development departments. The project included upgrading the HVAC system throughout the entire building, installing all new ceilings and lighting, and creating three new dance and theater rooms. New offices and classrooms, such as the Props Workshop Classroom and Costume Lab Classroom, were also added to support departmental activities. An outdoor amphitheater was constructed for performances, and the building’s exterior envelope and windows were replaced for improved energy efficiency and appearance. An elevator was also installed to enhance accessibility.

The project was completed in 3 phases. The first phase was ready for the fall semester use in 2019. During the following phases, the Gramoll team carefully scheduled construction activities to ensure minimal disruption to building occupants. The renovation revitalized Building 73, providing a modern and inclusive space for creativity and learning.
