OVERVIEW

The Huntsman Mental Health Institute (HMHI) is a healthcare clinic at the University of Utah that specializes in innovative treatments for mood disorders. The project included the renovation of the lobby, restrooms, and treatment areas, as well as the addition of 2 new treatment rooms, pre and post-op spaces, and 4 restrooms with specialized safety features. The parking lot for critical care patients was also expanded to improve accessibility.

One unique aspect of the HMHI project was that the clinic stayed open during construction. We worked closely with the clinic’s nurses and staff to ensure that patient treatments continued without interruption. Our superintendent Chris built a positive relationship with their team, making sure everyone was on the same page.

Problem-solving and attention to detail were vital when integrating the new plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems with the existing ones. Gramoll Construction’s expertise resulted in the on-time, on-budget completion of the 4,400 SF project, ensuring the clinic could continue treating patients during construction and have more room to expand its outreach.
